Repiping The Main Sewer Line
September 20, 2020
Does Your Sewer Need Repiping?
There aren’t many worse things you can hear about your house than the idea that you might have problems with your main sewer line. You certainly don’t want to ignore it, if that’s the case. Watch for these warning signs and get a plumber on the job right away.
Sign 1: Blockages And Backups
Sewer backups can happen on occasion, but if you have issues every time you flush the toilet, the main sewer line could be the cause. All of the drains in the home rely on that mainline to drain things away properly. If there are blockages in various drains, call a professional for help. With any luck, you can get it repaired. Otherwise, repiping might be in store.
Sign 2: Nasty Odors
Plumbing shouldn’t ever smell like anything at all, but when you have odors coming from the drains, there might be an issue. There could be a clog happening that is capturing items and causing the stench. There could also be a problem with the main sewer line.
Sign 3: Slow Drains
It’s inconvenient when drains are being slow, and most of the time, you can get a drain cleaning and be done with it. However, if that doesn’t work, you might need repiping instead. The clogs could be too deep in the sewer line or too severe for a cleaning to help.
Sign 4: Mushy Yard
If you’ve noticed there are mushy spots in your yard, or some of the parts of your yard are greener than others, it might be a crack in the main sewer line causing the issues. If there’s a leak, you need to take care of it right away before things burst and make a huge issue for you. You may need repiping, but it’s better than dealing with an emergency situation.
Sign 5: Foundation Issues
Foundations don’t grow issues overnight and they always have reasons for their problems, If your foundation is damaged, it could be because of leaking water in that mainline. No one wants water around the foundation, but you can’t control what you can’t see. Get things checked out right away so you don’t have to deal with larger structural damage in the future.

While repiping isn’t something you may be happy about doing, it is an answer to a number of issues.
